Dear all,

We are pleased to announce that registrations are now open for the upcoming
online course:

Introduction to Genome Annotation

Dates: 19–22 May 2025

Time: 1:00–7:00 PM (Berlin time)

Location: Online

Course website and registration:

Course Overview

Genome annotation plays a key role in genomics, directly influencing the
biological insights that can be drawn from a genome assembly. This course
will provide a comprehensive introduction to the essential strategies for
initiating genome annotation, focusing on challenges posed by genome-
specific features and sequencing technologies.

The program includes a mix of theoretical lectures and hands-on sessions,
covering ab initio and de novo transcriptome assembly, evidence-guided
gene prediction, and assessment of annotation quality using widely
adopted tools like Trinity and BRAKER.

Who should attend

This course is designed for PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and
scientists involved in genome projects who want to strengthen their
annotation skills.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will:

* Gain practical experience in genome annotation workflows

* Understand how to address genome-specific challenges

* Learn how to evaluate and integrate gene predictions to produce
  high-quality annotations

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.

Best regards,

Carlo
