Dear AnGenMap Community,
I am pleased to (re-)introduce DETECTIVE, an initiative focused on detection,
traceability, and authenticity of products derived from New Genomic Techniques
(NGTs) in both plants and animals. Given the growing interest in gene editing
and its regulatory landscape, DETECTIVE aims to address key challenges by:
- Developing analytical techniques to detect known, unknown, off-target, and
cisgenic mutations, validated in accredited laboratories.
- Creating a data space integrating gene-edited and cisgenic organisms,
genetic sequences, and natural variability.
- Assessing the socio-economic and regulatory implications of different
traceability and authenticity strategies.
- Providing capacity-building for enforcement authorities, laboratories,
developers, and agrifood stakeholders.
- Establishing a community of practice to enhance collaboration among
laboratories.
We engage often with the community to ensure that the project captures the
unique challenges of detecting and tracing NGT applications in livestock
and aquaculture. If you are working in this space and would like to receive
update about the project, be part of the community of practice, please feel
free to reach out :)
Best regards,
Geena Cartick, M.Sc.
