Dear Mohamed,
We have successfully applied the modified salting-out method (Javanrouh A.,
M.H. Banabazi, S. Esmaeilkhanian, C. Amirinia, H.R. Seyedabadi and H.
Emrani. Optimization on salting out method for DNA extraction from animal
and poultry blood cells. The 57th Annual Meeting of the European Association
for Animal Production. Antalya, Turkey 21-25 August 2006) for extracting DNA
from horse hair root. In order to degenerating of phosphorus links, we
added DTT (Dithiothreitol) to hairs. Then, we had a gelatin-like
(semi-liquid) tissue that is homogenized. Then, we completely followed all
steps in the modified salting out protocol as it is applied for blood
(adding extraction buffer and ...). We used these DNA samples for some
projects including parentage testing. Hope to be useful and interesting.
