Subject: Assistant Professor in Animal Genetics/Functional Genomics at
       University of Arizona
Date: Wed, 08 Jun 2022 15:14:00 -0500

The School of Animal and Comparative Biomedical Sciences (SACBS) at the
University of Arizona invites applications to a Tenure-Track Faculty
position, starting in Fall 2022 for the start of the FY23 academic year.
This position is a 9-month, tenure-track appointment (70-20-10, Research-
Teaching-Service).

We encourage applications from candidates with experience in animal
genomics and translating genomics into animal systems by developing high-
throughput phenotyping. We are interested in applicants who can
complement existing expertise in large animal physiology, environmental
stress in production systems, genetics, and the identification of
diseases. We strongly encourage researchers interested in applying new
technologies to develop high-throughput phenotypes for animals, including
welfare, resilience, and disease resistance traits. We prefer candidates
whose research program will be focused on One Health, with applications
to improve both human and animal health and sustainable animal
production.

The successful candidate should demonstrate the experience necessary to
develop a high-caliber extramurally funded research program in animal
genomics and phenomics. Qualified candidates will target research
questions that can be funded by diverse funding agencies, including NIH,
USDA, NSF and/or DoD. SACBS has strong research, teaching, and extension
programs in animal physiology (especially metabolic, cardiovascular, and
developmental physiology and immunobiology), human and animal disease and
food safety. The successful candidate is expected to develop
collaborations within SACBS and across campus, especially in the colleges
of Veterinary Medicine, Agriculture & Life Sciences, Social & Behavioral
Sciences, Science, and the BIO5 Institute.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ph.D. (or equivalent degree) in genomics, genetics, or related
disciplines that include but are not limited to epigenomics, genomics,
  transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics.
• Research experience in animal genomics, genetic, and phenomics.
• At least 2 years of postdoctoral experience or equivalent.
• Demonstrated history of peer-reviewed original research
  publications in recognized scientific journals.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in applying data sciences techniques (including but
not limited to artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, analysis of high-
  throughput, high-resolution phenotypic data).
• Demonstrated history of securing extramural funds.
• Experience in inclusive instructional development and delivery
  for diverse audiences.

The start date is August 15, 2022. Applications will be accepted until
the position is filled. Detailed information about this position,
