Subject: Extended application deadline epigenetic position at
       USDA ARS USMARC
Date: Tue, 07 May 2024 16:35:22 -0500

The application deadline to apply to the available scientist position of
Molecular Biologist, Epigenetics at USMARC has been extended to May 22,
2024.

Extended deadline for applications for USDA announcement number
ARS-D24Y-12371217-KB

Applications must be received by 12:00 noon Eastern US Daylight Time,
May 22, 2024

Location: Livestock Bio-Systems Research Unit (LBRU) at the USDA, ARS, U.S.
Meat Animal Research Center (USMARC), Clay Center, NE

Duties: Incumbent will work with a team of research physiologists to apply
epigenetics to improve reproductive performance and lifetime productivity
of cattle, sheep and swine. The Incumbent will identify and quantify the
epigenome of reproductive tissues, correlate epigenetic mechanisms to gene
expression and control of reproductive phenotypes or other animal
characteristics, identify maternal, environmental, nutritional and other
influences on epigenetic mechanisms, and develop methods to manipulate the
epigenome to improve reproductive longevity. The incumbent will apply
emerging technologies and next generation analytical tools to provide new
understanding of complex phenotypic relationships that influence lifetime
productivity such as gonadal biology, gamete biology, uterine biology,
fertility, pregnancy, fetal or developmental programming, reproductive
aging, or reproductive health. Successful completion of the research
objectives will provide foundational understanding of epigenetic mechanisms
that will be transformed into technological solutions.

Qualifications Required: The applicant must be a U.S. citizen or U.S.
National. Qualifying education requirements and specialized experience are
described in the application instructions. Specialized experience is
related to conducting molecular biology techniques to quantify gene
expression or epigenetic mechanisms, publishing research findings in
scientific journals, and presenting research findings at scientific
meetings. The USDA is an equal opportunity provider and employer.

Pay Grades: GS-12, GS-13, or GS-14 depending on qualifying education and
specialized experience.
